Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed the volume of Egyptian exports of medicinal and aromatic plants during the period from January to September of 2021. The total value of Egyptian exports of plants and roots for perfumes and medicine amounted to about one billion and 985 million pounds (132 million and 339 thousand dollars).

Statistics Authority data showed that the volume of Egyptian exports of aromatic plants last September was about 251 million and 310 thousand pounds (16 million and 754 thousand dollars), while it was 244 million and 230 thousand pounds (16 million and 282 thousand dollars) in September 2020. With a slight increase of 7 million and 80 thousand pounds (472,000 dollars).

According to the latest statement of the Foreign Trade Bulletin of the Statistics Authority, the imports of perfume plants and roots were among the list of the most important Egyptian exports of raw materials, with a total value of about 158 ​​million and 522 thousand dollars in September 2021, compared to 146 million and 923 thousand dollars in the same month in 2020. , an increase of about 11 million and 599 thousand dollars.

Egypt owns hundreds of varieties of medicinal, aromatic and flower types, and they are exported abroad, whether “dried or not” to enter the cosmetics, pharmaceutical industries and their supplies, and with the presence of all these types, Egypt has not entered this industry significantly so far.

The total number of medicinal and aromatic plants in Egypt is about 2,500 species, of which 40 are widely traded, especially in export, which represents 95%, and about 5% are consumed locally.

According to previous statistics, the Egyptian exports of flowers, ornamental plants, medicinal and aromatic plants, which were exported in the 2018-2019 season, amounted to about 188.6 million dollars. Ton, cut flowers, ornamental plants and palm trees, valued at $53.1 million.
